Tuesday, November 17, 2009 PORTALES, N.M. - After their record-setting season, the Eastern New Mexico University men's soccer team's Emerson Rodrigues (Jr., F, Natal, RN, Brazil/Colegio Objectivo Portigar) and Michael James (Sr., D, Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch HS) have been selected Daktronics All-South Central Region. The duo also was honored as members of the all-region team last year. Rodrigues earned first team all-region status after posting the most prolific season in ENMU history. He tallied 13 goals during the 2009 season, including a pair of game winners to take over the ENMU career lead in goals, points and many other categories. Rodrigues joins Scott Strickland (St. Edwards), Ben Everson (West Texas A&M) and Nick Auditore (Midwestern State) as a forward on the Daktronics First Team All-South Central squad. James garnered second team all-region laurels, finishing the season with two goals and two assists. His performance anchored a Greyhound defense that limited the opposition to a .383 shots on goal percentage and allowed the goal keepers to post a team-record 1.49 goals-against average. James joined Soamy Bautista (Texas A&M International), Brian Martinez (Midwestern State), Alex De La Fuente (Texas A&M International) as defenders on the Daktronics Second Team All-South Central squad. |
