PORTALES, N.M.- For the second consecutive season, the Eastern New Mexico University men's cross country team has been selected All-Academic by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their performance in the classroom and on the course during the 2009 season. This season, they were joined by the Zias, who also were selected. For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA. The Hounds posted a combined 3.27 GPA and turned in a ninth place finish at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional. They were among 62 Division II programs, including two Lone Star Conference teams to receive the team honor. Earlier this month, Jacob Lozano (Fr., Hobbs, N.M./Hobbs HS) was selected USTFCCCA All-Academic for his individual performance. The Zias recorded a 3.05 team GPA and placed 18th at the regional meet. Eastern was one of 101 teams, including five Lone Star Conference teams selected for the honor. Earlier this month, Nicole Reid (So., Pueblo, Colo./East HS) was selected USTFCCCA All-Academic for her individual performance. |
