STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS - Nicole Reid (So., Pueblo, Colo./East HS) set an Eastern New Mexico University record in the 1,500-meter run, while Jacob Lozano (Fr., Hobbs, N.M./Hobbs HS) and Richard Kogo (Sr., Eldoret, Kenya/West Texas CC) registered the best times in team history in the 5,000-meter run as the Greyhound and Zia track & field teams opened their 2010 season at the Tarleton Relays. Reid placed 12th in the women's 1,500-meter run in an ENMU record time of 5:07.78, in addition to placing seventh in the 800-meter run. Kogo and Lozano finished seventh and eighth respectively in the men's 5,000-meter run with times of 15:26.91 and 15:27.62. The duo also turned in eighth and ninth place finishes in the men's 1,500-meter run. Bill Squire (So., Hagerman, N.M./Hagerman HS) placed first in the men's hammer throw, clearing a distance of 174'-4.51", almost 20 feet better than the closest competitor. Dustin Francke (Fr., Hobbs, N.M./Hobbs HS) notched a second-place performance in the men's 800-meter run, finishing in 1:54.51, while Brian Smith (Jr., Midland, Texas/Midland Lee HS) tied for seventh in the 200-meter run with a time of 22.24. Next up for the Eastern New Mexico University track & field teams will be a trip to Abilene, Texas, for the McMurry Relays on April 1st. |
