RICHARDSON, TEXAS - Senior right fielder Ethan Wagner (San Antonio, Texas/Cisco JC/Churchull HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team has been selected as the Lone Star Conference Diamond Co-Hitter of the Week for his performance at Angelo State and University of the Southwest. He shared the honor with Casey Gibson from Southeastern Oklahoma State. The selection marks the third time this season that a Greyhound received weekly LSC honors, as Anthony Smith (Jr., RHP, 29 Palms, Calif. Cal State-Stanislaus) was selected LSC Diamond Co-Pitcher of the Week twice. Wagner batted .619 for the week with a home run, three doubles and six runs batted in as the Hounds defeated University of the Southwest and split a four-game series against Angelo State. Against the Rams, he hit .706, striking out just twice in 17 at bats and hit a perfect five-for-five with runners in scoring position. In the third game of the series, he batted three-for-three with a home run, a double and three runs batted in over the final three innings as ENMU rallied from an eight-run deficit for a 14-10 win. The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team will visit 11th-ranked Abilene Christian this weekend for a four-game Lone Star Conference series, starting with a single game on Friday. |
