ALPINE, TEXAS— The Eastern New Mexico University men’s rodeo
team turned in a strong performance at the Sul Ross Rodeo over the weekend,
finishing third overall, behind West Texas College and Texas Tech.
Cole Jackson (Jr., Durango, Colo./Animas
HS) split fifth and sixth place in the first round of the steer wrestling.
He also won the short round of the team roping with a time of 5.1 seconds and
placed second in the short round and average of the event. Tyrell Flewelling (Sr., Lacombe, Alberta, Canada) split fifth and sixth place in the
first round of team roping and placed fifth in the short round and average. Brock Dearing’s (Fr., Belen, N.M./Belen HS)
time of 8.9 seconds in the first round of calf roping split third and
fourth place. Brady Goodson (Sr.,
Portales, N.M./Portales HS) split fifth and sixth place in the first round
of team roping and took fourth in the short round and average.
The ENMU Rodeo teams will travel to Vernon,
Texas, this weekend, before closing their
fall season later this month at Texas Tech.
