Greyhound Arena is considered one of the finest NCAA Division II
athletic facilities in the Southwest. The arena provides the home court
for the ENMU volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball teams.
More than 4,800 fans can watch games in the horseshoe-shaped arena.
Seating is available on two levels, including chair-back seating
throughout the lower level. Completed in 1967 and renovated in
1988, Greyhound Arena has three indoor and six outdoor racquetball
courts, a fitness center, a large athletic training center, locker
rooms and two weight training rooms. Classrooms and offices for the
Eastern New Mexico athletic department and the department of health
& physical education are housed in the complex. The arena
features an all-wood floor, which provides a quality surface for the
fast-paced action of college basketball and volleyball. Lighted
advertising tables for the public address announcer, scoreboard
operator, statistical crew and the media are located near the court.
The arena features two scoreboards posted at both ends of the court.
Located just outside Greyhound Arena is a message center. It is used to
promote upcoming athletic events, as well as concerts and other
functions. |

The spacious lobby houses trophies and plaques from
various teams, athletes and coaches at ENMU over the years. The lobby
also features a ticket booth and a concession stand. The fitness center
has been upgraded with the addition of treadmills and cardiovascular
equipment, weight machines and free weights. Greyhound Arena is
just one of the outstanding athletic facilities at ENMU. Other quality
facilities include Zia Softball Field, Greyhound Stadium for football,
the recently renovated Greyhound Field for baseball, and the ENMU
Soccer Field, which opened for home matches in 2004. Zia
Softball Field opened in 1999. It features an all-dirt infield and a
grass outfield. Grass also provides an attractive buffer between the
field and the dugouts. A scoreboard is located in left field.
Other amenities include a batting cage, bullpens and storage rooms. The
dugouts are spacious, with built-in storage areas for bats and helmets.
Greyhound Stadium seats 6,100 fans, including enclosed seating
underneath the large press box. Lights enable ENMU to play several
night games each year. |

The press box at Greyhound Stadium has
media and statistics rooms, plus booths for coaches from both teams,
home and visiting radio stations, scoreboard operator and public
address announcer. All stadium seating is elevated above field level.
Greyhound Field was built by the Eastern baseball team when the program
was revived in 1992. After its renovation, the field features some of
the largest dimensions in baseball: 356 feet to left, 410 feet to
center, and 343 feet to right. The field includes a press box, bleacher
seating and bullpens. Recently added to the baseball complex was
an indoor batting/pitching facility as well as a field house including
locker rooms, coaches offices and new fencing, including a new backstop.
The ENMU Soccer Field features a natural grass surface, bleacher
seating for fans and weather-protected team benches. The field
maintains a cozy feel with a line of evergreen trees behind the
bleachers.
